Liu Zhiqiang: automotive lighting is the safety of the first, no matter what the bulbs are for safety. Energy saving and environmental protection, not only in the field of automotive lighting in the world, but also in other areas to promote energy conservation, the environment is good, so we also attach great importance to energy conservation and environmental protection. Now the development of light bulbs, like LED lights, are moving towards the direction of energy saving. Fashion, and now a lot of vehicle manufacturers will choose the lighting function, only the shape of fashion, unique, to be able to stand out. Today's seminar, the main content of Dr. Han Meng speech is about LED, we feel that the LED development momentum is good, but also the future direction of development, in line with the three points mentioned earlier.
Han Meng: today's seminar to a lot of designers, such interaction is very good. Because of the appearance of the design and sometimes there will be conflict between the function, the early communication and contact with the design department, the product can give full play to the advantages, while taking into account the style of fashion.
How to solve the conflict between function and style?
Han Meng: the choice of products is relatively large. For example, before the turn of the lamp, it is in the position on the side, in the environment is not harsh conditions, the use of our standard products can be. We also have specialized products designed for harsh environments.
Automotive Network: PHILPS lighting systems in the low-end car market has not launched the appropriate market plan?
Liu Zhiqiang: we develop new products, not only for the high-end market. Of course, there are a lot of new technologies, we must start from the high-end market applications, because the beginning of the volume is not high, the cost is high, but we are not only for the development of high-end market.
In addition, there are differences in the application. Midrange models also use our LED, but the particles are not so many high-end cars. High end car cost pressure is not so big, the particles used up more. We have developed new products, but there are different emphasis on performance. For example, low-end car more attention to energy saving. From the application point of view, we have a lot of innovative products, but also more emphasis on which aspects of the performance and application of the best match, rather than doing high-end distinction.
Automotive Network: there is a point of view, even if the cost of LED Moore's law in accordance with the predictable rate continued to decline, it is low enough to be the same price as the HID xenon lamp also needs many years. And if the cost of the LED family is to be reduced to that of a halogen lamp, it will take a longer period of time. What do you think of the two?
Han Meng: LED and traditional industries, compared to the semiconductor technology, although not strictly in accordance with Moore's prediction of the development of law, but in the long run, prices will go down. The market has done a lot of analysis, we also made an assessment. It is foreseeable that the price difference between LED and HID in the next ten years will gradually reduce. LED lights in the high-end car will be more widely used. However, for compact or small displacement cars, halogen lamps are very competitive.
We do not and LED stopped other R & D, we are also in the development of halogen lamps, improve product performance. Over the next 20 years, LED will continue to increase, the production of halogen lamps will remain stable. HID can feel the pressure from LED.
Liu Zhiqiang: we see that the car market is growing fast. Although the first two years by the impact of the financial crisis, but from the beginning of 2010, the global auto sales far exceeded the sales volume before the financial crisis, mainly due to the growth rate of China, India and other countries. We believe that from a population perspective, the space is still large. LED demand will continue to grow, so we will continue to do research and development, continuous improvement of our technology.
Automotive Network: what factors restrict the LED failed to market as expected blowout?
Han Meng: LED can be broken down into the application of lights, such as brake lights and taillights, LED has been applied in 30% of the end of the car, we are also more recognized. But in the front end, the utilization rate is very low. LED is a system, many people can not see. Not only is the light source to be bright, but also needs the very big heat sink in the heat radiation management, also has the very high request to the drive, for example the automobile voltage system is stable. We need to stabilize the current output, the problem can be automatically detected, which will increase the complexity of the system.
LED as solid light source, in the laboratory or at room temperature, we can meet the performance requirements. But the actual application conditions will be very harsh. For example, in the headlights, the ambient temperature can reach 105 degrees, resulting in a significant attenuation of LED light, life is also affected. Therefore, the use of LED system is very complex, involving all aspects of a reliable system, effective thermal management, compact optical design and very complex drive.
