According to a recent news report, the investigation company IHS Technology 27 announced the forecast report that in 2018, the amount of OLED panels for smart phones will exceed the current mainstream LCD panels for the first time. The main reason is that the OLED panel will be used in the prediction of the new Apple iPhone, which is expected to bring significant changes to the panel market. IHS predicts that in 2018, the shipment of OLED panels for smart phones will reach US $18 billion 600 million, which will increase by 75% compared with 2015. In contrast, the forecast of LCD panel shipments will be 15% to 17 billion 600 million US dollars. At present, only some South Korean Samsung Electronics and HUAWEI and other Chinese manufacturers use the OLED panel in the smart phone factory. However, with the adoption of apple iPhone, the trend of global high-performance smart phone adoption of OLED will become more apparent. As far as shipments are concerned, shipments of smart phones using LCD panels will still be much higher than that of OLED smartphones. It is estimated that in 2018, the shipment of smart phone panels will be 1 billion 323 million, and will reach more than 2 times that of OLED smartphones (estimated at 558 million shipments in 2018).
