Product Maintenance

A big lighting factory in the United States announced price increases, covering most of its products.

According to foreign media reports, a letter from the Eaton Lighting of the US lighting company has given notice to its dealers and agents that the company has not announced the price increase of 6%, due to the impact of rising prices of raw materials and increasing tariffs.

The following is the specific content of the notification letter:

At present, the lighting industry continues to face cost growth in several key areas, including electronics, metals and other commodities, transportation and wage inflation. In addition, the US Department of Commerce and the US Trade Representative Office (USTR) have announced tariff increases, affecting the cost of many products and components.

Therefore, we declare the following: most of the prices of lighting and lighting control products have risen by an average of 6%, coming into effect on October 1, 2018. Orders placed on or before September 30, 2018 will be invoiced at current prices. The quoted price is valid until September 30, 2018. The quotations received after October 1, 2018 will be subject to the new price.

The US government has increased tariffs on parts and finished products from China, so we have to respond to the rising prices of the affected products in the corresponding proportion.

In July 6, 2018, the United States imposed a 25% tariff on Chinese products of 34 billion dollars; in August 23, 2018, the United States imposed a 25% tariff on Chinese products of 16 billion dollars. These tariffs are expected to affect the cost of future material supply.

The United States is planning to levy tariffs on US $200 billion worth of Chinese goods. If implemented, it will have a significant impact on costs.

We are currently assessing the impact of these tariffs on our products. We will continue to inform you about additional duties related to customs in the next few weeks. We are committed to serving our business partners and will continue to invest in R & D and provide innovative, cost-effective lighting solutions. We value your business and thank you for continuing to support us in dealing with these market challenges. (Editor: LED net James)
