A joint venture between OSRAM and the continental group is put into operation to speed up the innovation of automobile lighting

OSRAM Continental GmbH, a joint venture of the technology company continental group and OSRAM group, has been formally put into operation. The joint venture has been formally established in the second half of 2018, after the successful completion of all negotiations and the merger control approval.

The joint venture, OSRAM Continental GmbH, is headquartered in Munich, Germany, and has 16 stations around the world, and about 1500 employees will be employed in the early days of the establishment. According to the plan, at the appropriate time, the company's headquarters will be moved to Germany. The joint venture is striving to reach hundreds of millions of euros in annual sales. The mainland group and OSRAM group have 50% shares of each joint venture, and their earnings will be included in the OSRAM group.

The joint venture is planning to grow with an annual growth rate of up to two figures in the next five years. The high growth rate is based on the strong growth of the LED market and the laser based lighting module and solutions and the related electronics market. And the first batch of products developed by the joint venture are expected to be put into production in 2021.
