A new study of green light sources in the United States can relieve chronic pain

Modern life stress, resulting in chronic pain to come, many people may have to spend on painkillers, but new research from the University of Arizona found that green light irradiation LED help to relieve the pain in the future for patients with chronic pain, it will be a boon.

Dr. Mohab Ibrahim of the University of Arizona found that sitting under a tree during a headache seemed to have an analgesic effect. Out of curiosity, he decided to do a simple experiment to test whether green light really relieves chronic pain.

The team led by Dr. Mohab Ibrahim studied three groups of mice suffering from neuropathic pain. They placed the first group of mice in a transparent plastic container with a green LED strip. The lamp lasted eight hours a day for five days. Second groups of mice were placed in a light environment, but special contact lenses were allowed to pass through the eyes of rats. The white mice in the third control group wore opaque contact lenses that were unable to see any color light.

The results showed that the first two groups received more temperature and tactile stimulation than the white mice in the control group, and no side effects were found during the course. And after the last light, the rats continued to do so for the next four days.

Scientists initially believe that this may be because green light has increased the levels of "endogenous opiates" (endogenous opioid) in mice. This substance resists pain and relieves inflammation in the nervous system. The findings are published in the February issue of the journal Pain (Pain).

Researchers are currently working on a 10 week human clinical trial for 10 people with fibromyalgia (fibromyalgia), with initial results encouraging. Because of the significant analgesic effect, even two patients refused to return the green LED light to the research team.

Although the research is still in the initial stage, but Mohab Ibrahim said, this light to create a green LED light source, with considerable possibility, can reduce chronic pain in particular, and this therapy is safe and effective and affordable. He hopes to introduce a green LED light source in the future, or in combination with other methods, to help many patients suffering from pain.
