Acuity Brands欲转型，出售西班牙照明公司Carandini

Recently, LED and Acuity Brands, a lighting expert in Atlanta, has quietly sold its $23 million Spanish lighting company Carandini.

According to foreign media, LEDS C4, a Spanish lighting leader, acquired Carandini through Acuity.

Acuity has yet to issue a press release on this move. But in its recently released fourth quarter financial statement, the deal was first mentioned, referring to "the impact of the sale of Spain's lighting business related earnings". According to the financial report, as the company sold its Spanish lighting business in the quarter, the company withdrew its previous record of $5 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2018.

LEDS C4 describes Carandini as a 99 year old company known for its innovative lighting solutions that focus on providing public roads, industrial facilities, sports facilities and other infrastructure for the European, American and African markets.

Neither Acuity nor LEDS C4 announced the purchase price.

In addition, foreign media speculated that Acuity seems to have given up another brand, Tersen, which was listed in the July product portfolio, but has been deleted from the list. Up to now, Acuity has not responded.

Acuity has more than 10 lighting brands, including Holophane, Peerless, Lithonia, Carandini and so on. In fiscal year 2018, the company spent $163 million to buy Lucid Design Group and IOTA Engineering two companies, and repurchased 2 million shares of Acuity Brands common stock under its authorized share repurchase program for $298 million.

Like many of the lighting companies like Signify and OSRAM (Acuity), Acuity is looking for a shift from lighting business to the Internet of things (IoT) - the connection of lights to the Internet and the collection and use of data is a challenging business.

Vernon J. Nagel, chairman, President and chief executive officer of Acuity Brands, said it is now in a challenging lighting market.
