Agilent color management system to enhance the brightness of backlight LCD TV

Agilent Technologies Inc. (Agilent Technologies) announced the day before, to provide the color management system breakthrough for backlight LCD flat-panel TV, its bright color enhanced by 25% than the fluorescent backlight current. The color management controller IC (integrated circuit) and the color sensor module are combined to form a complete tone (color) and intensity (brightness) control system.

Agilent lighting and color management system Lumileds lighting production of high power Luxeon red, green and blue for LED (light emitting diode). Lumileds is a joint venture between Agilent Technologies and PHILPS electronics.

Agilent semiconductor products division optoelectronic products division vice president and general manager soo-ghee Lee said, "over the years, various manufacturers have been trying to solve the problem of how to provide for the LCD TV display colors brighter and more natural problems. Agilent now solves the technical problem."

According to the introduction, by providing innovative solutions Agilent closed-loop optical feedback system, to solve the LCD TV display manufacturers in RGB LED in the past has been a headache. The system enables the OEM to achieve plug and play function, and can be maintained throughout the service life of the TV display.

Initially, this technique is mainly used in the RGB LED backlight control LCD flat-panel tv. This color management function can also be used to dynamically adjust the household and business atmosphere lighting, indoor lighting, Infotainment and car dashboard color and brightness, and the logo and other types of display color matching.

At present, most flat-panel LCD TV LCD backlight use cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL). Although the economy is more, but the brightness of the CCFL will gradually decline, the color will change over time, its service life is generally 15000 - 25000 hours. In addition, CCFL light source can cover only 75% of the National Television System Committee (NTSC) color space, NTSC is responsible for the development of U.S. television and video standards. Agilent lighting and color management solutions RGB LED over 100% NTSC color space to provide a clearer, brighter colors. The use of LED is also helpful to European manufacturers seeking to eliminate the small amount of mercury used in fluorescent backlighting.

Agilent stressed that the lighting and color management solutions enable white backlight (using the combination of red, green and blue, and the feedback control) can maintain the stability of color and brightness over the lifetime of the display. This level of control is associated with an increase in the color spectrum that cannot be achieved by any conventional technique.

Agilent lighting color management system

Agilent hdjd-jb01 lighting and color management system by the HDJD-J822-SCR00 color management controller and the hdjd-s831-qt333 color image sensor. Color management controller is a CMOS mixed signal optical feedback controller IC; hdjd-s381-qt333 color sensor is a monolithic CMOS circuit (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) IC solution. By using Agilent's color management feedback system, the output of the RGB LED array can maintain its color at different times and ambient temperatures. You can use the standard CIE (International Lighting Committee) color space to define the desired color.

With an important advantage of RGB LED array and color management is the white point in television can be set up and maintain a wide range of color temperature (whether white or yellowish tend to blue). The United States and European professional studio monitor TV set color temperature of 6500 Kelvin (k), and the American television set the color temperature of approximately 7100 K (blue), most computer monitors the Japanese TV and all over the world is set to 9300 K (even more blue).

A typical lighting and color management system is composed of red, green and blue LED, LED driver, the light output sampling of the Agilent hdjd-s831-qt333a color image sensor and HDJD-J822-SCR00 controller. The controller interface is directly connected to the image sensor to process the color and luminance information to adjust the light emitted by the LED until the desired color is achieved. Agilent HDJD-J822-SCR00 integrates a high-precision analog / digital converter front-end, a color data processing logic core and a high resolution 12 bit PWM (pulse width modulation) output generator. The output pulse width modulation (PWM) signal is directly connected to the LED driver to control the duration of the red, green and blue LED in real time. This is a long period of continuous real-time adjustment, the LED array can be issued by the light output and the specified color match.
