As residents protested, Seattle changed the LED street light to warm colors

A few days ago, Seattle became one of the first big cities to change the color temperature of street lights.

Seattle said it would replace its original 4000K LED lamps after the residents protested, replacing it with a warmer 3000K.

Earlier, the American Medical Association warned in 2016 that high intensity LED street lamps would have an impact on human health and wildlife, suggesting that the color temperature should not exceed 3000K.

The color temperature of street lamps has become a major problem in the world, partly because of glare, partly because of feeling. Colder color temperatures such as 4000K and even 5000K produce more blue light, and blue light is associated with lack of sleep or even a high risk of cancer.

The light of the city of Seattle, a public service company responsible for Seattle street lighting, denies the replacement of street lights in response to residents' worries.

Scott Thomsen of the light of the city of Seattle said that although he was skeptical about the conclusions of the American Medical Association, he did not deny that Blu ray was bad for sleep. However, Thomsen believes that the blue light of TV and mobile devices is more worrying than the blue light produced by street lamps.

He also said that the recommendations of the American Medical Association did not play a direct role in the decision to change the specifications of urban lamps and lanterns. (Editor: LED network James)
