Asia IC design company 05 years average revenue will grow by 22%

Survey conducted by the electronic design engineering resources under the global Bi weekly "EE". A total of more than 174 design companies participated in the survey.

"EE" publishing people (Mark Saunderson) Mr. Dursley said: "although many market analysts predict the global semiconductor industry in 2006 will remain stable, but the IC design industry in Asia is still in the growth of the industry is full of confidence. As electronics manufacturers in Asia have increased the production of mobile phones, flat screen TVs and other popular consumer electronics products, the demand for IC design services has grown. This situation will continue in the near future, but the demand for low-cost IC manufacturers to create opportunities for local design companies."

Taiwan IC design company is the most active

2004 IC design company in Taiwan province is the most active, the average of each company engaged in 11 design project; Chinese, IC design company and South Korea IC design company is respectively engaged in 10 and 6 design project.

Survey also showed that in 2003 the Taiwan area average design company engaged in 9 design project; China, IC design company and South Korea IC design company is engaged in the average 8 and 6 design project.

Korea IC design company with sophisticated design technology

Surveyed 87% Korea Companies with 0.25 micron or more sophisticated technology for digital IC design; using this technology, the company Chinese digital IC design and regional Corporation in Taiwan the proportion of only 64% and 63% respectively.

In analog design, 73% of the respondents Korea Companies with 0.25 micron or more sophisticated technology; using the technology of Taiwan regional Corporation and China, the proportion of companies accounted for 47% and 42%.

Design companies to provide comprehensive services

In design companies surveyed, 57% to provide system design service complete, 45% of them also provide intellectual property rights and 20% to provide testing services. Design company can also provide EDA tools leasing, OEM, packaging and technical training services.

Respondents pointed out that the design challenges they face include: shortening the design cycle (accounting for 53% of companies surveyed), reduce the design cost (50%), verification of intellectual property rights (12%), and the protection of intellectual property rights (10%).
