Attention! New version of solid state lighting products standard V4.2 deposit four points change

United States time on April 28, 2017, DLC officially released the solid state lighting product standard V4.2 version of technical requirements. As the most influential certification standard for commercial lighting products in North America, DLC certification has a great influence on the design and sales of commercial lighting products exported to the United states. Compared to the previous edition of technical specifications V4.1, the new version of V4.2 has four noteworthy new changes.

Test and documentation requirements for lighting fixtures in new hazardous locations

Lighting fixtures in hazardous locations can be applied according to the main categories (primary, use) or special (specialty) categories that can be applied.

In the DLC version of V4.2, if the manufacturer through special categories of applications (including outdoor wall, square, floodlights and indoor high roof mining lamp main categories, apply for special categories of dangerous places, lighting) must meet additional documentation requirements. The requirements specifically for products through special categories to apply for dangerous place lighting certification, must provide UL844 certification compliance documents, including product certification grades and categories. If the product has been applied in accordance with the existing major category (primary use) and does not apply in accordance with Specialty, it is not required to meet this requirement.

New lamp categories

Please note that only the LED tube with the lamp holder is suitable for the requirements of the DLC LED replacement lamp tube. The tube without a lamp holder is considered a refurbished kit by DLC, not within the scope of this discussion. In the old standard, DLC currently recognizes 0.6 meters, 1.2 meters LED tubes and U tubes. In DLC V 4.2, the DLC will split the 1.2 meter tube into three specific product requirements:

1.2 meters LED replace T8 tube

The product must be 48 inches long and use a G13 lamp holder. Any manufacturer's material must declare that the T8 is replaced with a fluorescent tube of the same length. DLC does not allow manufacturers to declare that replacing fluorescent tubes of other lengths or diameters, such as a T8 LED tube, instead of T12 fluorescent tubes, is not allowed.

1.2 meters LED replace T5 tube

The product must be 46 inches long and use a G5 lamp holder. Any manufacturer's material must declare that the T5 is replaced with a fluorescent tube of the same length. DLC does not allow manufacturers to declare replacement of other fluorescent lamps with a length, a lamp holder or a diameter.

1.2 meters LED replace T5HO tube

The product must be 46 inches long and use a G5 lamp holder. Any manufacturer's material must declare that the T5HO is replaced with a fluorescent tube of the same length. DLC does not allow manufacturers to declare replacement of other fluorescent lamps with a length, a lamp holder or a diameter.

According to Type A T5 and T5HO DLC tube, forced ballast factor 1 electronic programmed-start collocation ballast test, and the reported value must be submitted when power power combination lamp and ballast, and the lamp power is not bare.

T5 replacement lamps also need to be equipped with lamps to do luminaire level photometric tests. The ordinary T5 tube test is no different from the T8 tube. The difference is that the T5HO tube requires a special shell, and if the Type, A/B, or Dual mode 1.2 meters T5HO tube, you need to use 4 tubes with shell testing. New optical efficiency tolerance requirements

The policy reduces the luminous efficiency requirements of highly visible and low color temperature products. The conditions to be satisfied and the adjustment of the luminous efficiency are as follows:

The percentage of the above reductions is not cumulative, and the maximum percentage is applicable for multiple conditions. If the performance tolerances need to be met at the same time, the standard method is to calculate the percentage of color concessions, and then calculate the allowable tolerances (the light effect is 3%).

The adjustment of the mixed LED policy

In the DLC V4.2 version, the hybrid LED policy (Multiple LED Policy) is corrected, and the DLC accepts a mixed LED on the same LED PCB, but the number of each LED must be fixed and cannot be dynamically adjusted.

The type of product that needs to be upgraded:

The following products must be re - submitted before the release of version 4.2, or will be removed in July 28, 2017:

1) use a special category (specialty) to deliver products containing Hazardous words. Manufacturers need to apply for renewal of column names and request DLC audits within three months of release of 4.2. The application DLC is not charged and is calculated according to the normal audit cycle.

2) T5 and T5HO lamp, LED lamp for 1.2 meters in the class before, need to update the listing before July 28th, to meet the new standards. DLC receives a normal delivery fee for the application and is calculated according to the normal audit cycle.

Transit schedule:

In May 19, 2017, for related to the dangerous places of lighting products and T5, T5HO lamp, DLC can still accept the use of the DLC V4.1 version of the audit, but must upgrade to DLC V4.2 version before July 28th, otherwise it will be removed from the list.

For the light effect concession clause, DLC will automatically apply to the products listed before April 1, 2017.
