As a "global phasing out incandescent lamps and energy saving lamps promotion" of the international project, need to cooperate with States and relevant technical agencies, hope that the center can contribute to the development of energy-saving lighting industry and the world Chinese.
UNEP technology, industry and Economic Department of energy officials Mark Radka said the United Nations Environment Programme at the end of 2008 to launch a global incandescent lamp project was a collaboration and support Chinese related organizations in the implementation process of the project, the two sides decided to work together to establish a profound impact on global the use of efficient lighting technology institutions, to support the development of related industries, cultivate and promote technological progress in emerging countries, to achieve the global lighting technology promotion.
Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations in September 2011 long AchimSteiner and China related institutions signed jointly establish a centre for global energy efficient lighting technology cooperation cooperation file. The center is a non-profit independent institution of technology, will focus on efficient lighting products testing standards research, quality control, laboratory capacity building, technology and personnel training, the establishment of a global lighting technology and product information sharing and communication platform in five aspects of cooperation.
