CREE launches XQ-E Photo Red LED optimized for plant lighting

CREE (NASDAQ:CREE) announced the introduction of new XLamp XQ-E Photo Red LED optimized for plant lighting, continues to expand the LED component combination in this field.

XQ-E Photo Red LED is excellent in providing light wavelengths that promote plant growth. Compared to the closest peer products, the output is similar, and the size is less than 1/3. XQ-E Photo Red LED has extended a small range of LED devices for plant lighting optimization, which can help lighting manufacturers reduce the lamp size and reduce system costs.

In view of plant illumination, CREE has developed XQ and XPLED devices series at present. With the launch of the new XQ-EPhotoRedLED product, PPF Photosynthetic, Photon, Flux, efficiency and reliability will be able to provide higher throughput.

The CREE, XQ and XPLED two device families are capable of implementing replacements for existing lighting technologies, significantly reducing power, and providing similar spectral components. For example, using a CREE Photo Red LED white light and high ceiling lamp reference design, than the 1000W double end HPS high pressure sodium lamp, can provide a higher average photosynthetic photon flux density PPFD, while the power is reduced about half.

"CREE LED devices can help us achieve full spectrum LED plant growth lights," says Rami Vardi, CEO of Spectrum King LED. "It's a real simulation of natural sunlight.". The high performance, high efficiency and high reliability of CREE LED bring us the same HPS light intensity of traditional high-pressure sodium lamp, but also achieve lower system cost, longer life and lower power."

CREE XQ-E Photo Red LED package size is only 1.6mmx1.6mm, can provide more than 6.4 mol/sec (mol / sec) 660nm peak wavelength of photosynthetic photon flux PPF, is conducive to plant growth. CREE white light and color LED provide full spectrum light, simulating natural sunlight. CREE color LED includes green, red, Photo, Red, Far, Red, Royal, Blue and so on. The most suitable wavelengths for different stages of plant growth can provide higher photosynthetic photon flux PPF. A continuous package structure, an effective combination of package size and drive current, enables easy adjustment of spectral components and light intensity at the luminaire level. CREE's new Photo Red LED, based on the proven optical symmetry of the XLamp XQ-E series and its consistency across all color ranges, can help lighting manufacturers improve color uniformity and simplify production processes.

"The mission of our Local Roots is to improve global health by building a better food system," says Local Roots, chief operating officer at Matt Vail. This means that we will get more and more fresh and delicious food in a responsible manner and at reasonable cost. CREE high performance LED device selection, and for the optimization of plant growth, so that we can control the spectrum and light intensity, to provide accurate crops they need light, which leads to more growth, nutrition and excellent quality. The high efficiency and long term reliability of CREE LED devices will help us reduce the cost of plant growth and bring better food for more people."

CREE's new XQ-E Photo Red LED is now available for sample applications and will be available for mass production at standard delivery times.
