Campus security can not be ignored! The American College of trial "emergency lights"

The University of Illinois is currently trialling integrated outdoor lamps emergency button, in order to improve the students' safety.

The intelligent street lighting lamp which contains a so-called "emergency button", directly connected to the school site security. Once you press these buttons, first responders can know through APP, an alarm on the map.

In addition, the brightness of the lamp itself and nearby lights ranging from 10% to 100%, you can quickly and easily identify the scene of the accident.

At the same time, also hope that the LED lights flash to remind the perpetrators "security personnel already know, and is rushed to the destination, so as to break the ongoing criminal or antisocial behavior.

The integrated emergency button lamp is only a part of the university teachers and students to protect their safety measures.

In addition to the emergency lights, the university has also developed a smart mobile phone applications, for those who feel insecure people use walk in the night.

Through the integrated video sensor network infrastructure using intelligent lighting and statistical pedestrians, SafeWalks application can determine the campus safe walking routes.

The video sensor is provided by the New York startup Placemeter, real-time data using computer vision algorithm to generate pedestrian flow.

Then, SafeWalks will generate Placemeter sensor data matching with Google maps, provides the path options for pedestrians.

University leaders hope, combined with the use of emergency lights and APP, can help to curb crime, safety problems reduce campus at night, to improve the safety of atmosphere. (compiled: LED James)
