Canada card city to replace 80 thousand LED bulbs

Canada's Calgary city government says it is replacing new energy-saving lamps for street lamps in 5 communities. The old high voltage sodium light bulb (HPS) is replaced by LED bulbs, which initially saves 55% of electricity consumption.

More energy-efficient lighting system is better.

The card city government said last Wednesday that Dole, Altadore, Douglas Dale (Douglasdale), Mar Bohle (Marlborough), Tuxedo Park, and Brent Wood (Brentwood) and other 3 communities will install 2500 new energy-efficient LED bulbs in the summer.

Barry Poon, director of the Municipal Road Department, pointed out that this is the first phase of the replacement of energy-saving bulbs by the government of the city of Calgary. It hopes to bring more environmentally friendly, durable and cost-effective facilities to the residents.

Barry Poon added that LED technology not only effectively reduced the electricity consumption of 55%, and reduced maintenance costs, but also brought higher quality lighting systems to community residents and streets.

The ultimate goal of the municipal government is to install up to 80 thousand LED bulbs in the city.
