Canadian researchers develop a new OLED technology to reduce power consumption by 40%

Simon Fraser University research team recently demonstrated an energy-saving OLED technology, is expected to reduce the power consumption of OLED monitors 40%. The research team used a OLED can reduce the energy consumption of light emitting screen pixels color image using this energy-saving chromatography, chromatography showed that out in detail will not have too much loss, but the power consumption can be decreased significantly.

Backlight system LCD display in the need to remain in the light of the state, and the OLED technology is different, each pixel on the screen can emit light, each pixel can display several color light, the color light together can show a variety of colors. However, the energy required to emit different colors is different, such as the display of yellow light energy consumption is lower than the use of red light. The research team collected and analyzed the energy consumption of each color, and then selected a lower energy consumption of color combinations of subsets, so that the purpose of energy saving of 40%.

Borland, a member of the research team, says the technology is ideal for mobile devices and can significantly improve the life of such devices. David. Johnson Chuang is responsible for the research team believes that at present only a part of the color can be replaced with other color, low energy consumption, is mainly the two kinds of red and green color, and the use of this technology after the image details are still will be lost.
