Catalyst published 16 channel constant current LED driver CAT4016

Analog, mixed signal devices and non-volatile memory vendors Catalyst semiconductor company expanded the LED driver lineup, for the big screen LED panel market launch new products. The new CAT4016 is a 16 channel, constant current source LED driver designed specifically for billboards, advertising titles, instrumentation, or other large, general purpose indoor and outdoor LED displays.

CAT4016 LED channel can be in the output voltage as low as 0.4V (when the LED current is 2mA ~ 100mA) to keep the steady state, in the application design can achieve higher power efficiency. LED current can be set by external resistors. A high speed, four wire serial interface with a frequency of up to 25MHz controls each LED channel through a shift register and latch architecture. Independent serial data output pin allows multiple devices to be connected in series using the same serial interface. CAT4016 also has a thermal protection feature that allows the device to shut down the LED output when the chip temperature exceeds the allowable limit.

As an alternative to other manufacturers of similar devices, CAT4016 provides a variety of packaging options for users, including 24 pin SOIC, TSSOP, QSOP and an area of only 4 x 4mm TQFN package.
