Catalyst released the new LED drive products with built-in brightness adjustment function "CAT3647", "CAT364832"

It is reported that, Catalyst for its Quad-Mode fractional charge pump LED drive product line, add two high-resolution brightness adjustment components, "CAT3647" and "CAT364832".

Catalyst new CAT3647 and CAT3648 chip brightness adjustment features for emerging portable applications, providing enhanced LCD backlight control. It is to meet the needs of high resolution LCD brightness control and extended battery life. By programming the ability to make incremental increment (step) only 3% of the interval, CAT3647 and CAT3648 to provide designers with better LED current and brightness control, providing a richer user experience. All this is accomplished through the Catalyst single wire programmable interface (EZDimTM), which supports a total of 32 linear regulation operations from the full bright to the 0 current EZDimTM interface.

The new LED driver is a 4 mode fractional charge pump (1x, 1.33x, 1.5x, 2x), compared to the 3 mode charge pump, conversion efficiency increased by 10% and no additional cost. CAT3647 drive to 3 LED, the maximum current of each LED is 30mA, CAT3648 drive to 4 LED, the maximum current of each LED is 25mA, the power supply efficiency up to 92%, CAT3647 and CAT3648 Catalyst Quad-Mode has joined the LED drive family, other members include: CAT3604V with four channel LED driver PWM dimming interface; CAT3636 has six channel LED drive single EZDim interface, 32 brightness adjustment; have a single EZDim interface, 6 brightness adjustment CAT3644 four channel LED driver and CAT3643LED three channel LED driver; with CAT3637 six channel LED drive single EZDim interface, 16 levels of brightness adjustment.

CAT3647 has now provided samples and evaluation boards. Due to the use of ultra-thin 3mmx3mm, 16 pin TQFN package, the new component can save circuit board space and cost, and compared with the existing 3 mode LED driver, without additional capacitors can be achieved in the work of the 4 modes.
