Cell phone control street lighting? Try this APP

Street lighting engineers are now able to build and maintain their networks through their smartphones.

The APP is OSRAM's Tuner4Tronic Field, which uses the latest "NFC".

The parameters that usually need to be adjusted are light output (depending on the type of the street), the dimming time, and the dimming level. The dimming function is also not started according to the specific application, such as the ring intersection and the crosswalk. The manufacturer of lamps and lanterns can specify which functions to be configured on the spot. They also determine the range of parameters that can be changed to ensure the reliable operation and constant output of the luminaire.

Carlos Rohde, OSRAM product manager, said, "our application enables cities to use standard lamps and lamps to meet different requirements quickly and easily without having to retain many different models of inventory. This saves the time and cost of installation, maintenance, storage and replacement. "

The App can use the near field communication technology to make wireless programming on the LED driver in the field without the need of line voltage. It can be used on any smart phone that supports NFC. For smartphones without a NFC antenna, OSRAM will provide a portable NFC scanner (essentially a Bluetooth NFC adapter) as an alternative.

As an open system, the APP is available to all people and does not connect users with specific lamps and lanterns manufacturers.

Through the copy and paste functions of APP, the setting of the fault lamps can be transferred to the new lamps and lanterns immediately. There is no need to check the configuration of the old lamps and lanterns; the whole process is running off-line, and the user does not have to store its data in the cloud.

Another advantage of NFC is that it does not require line voltage. Therefore, even after a drive failure, the original configuration of the LED drive can be very likely to recover.

This APP can be downloaded from OSRAM's website, free before March 2019.
