Chile bans the sale of incandescent bulbs

Chile's Ministry of energy in December 28, 2013 issued a mandatory minimum energy efficiency standards for non directional incandescent bulbs.

The new standard will ban sales of energy efficiency index (Watt / LM) equal to or greater than 80% of the bulb. Covers the bulb including A type and PS type tungsten incandescent light bulbs with the scope of application of the IEC 60064/2005 standard, used for household and similar general purpose, rated power between 25 to 200 watts, bulb glass is transparent, frosted or white polishing, lamp type E26 or E27. Therefore, the energy efficiency is D, rated E, F or G, the rated power of more than 75 watt light bulb will be banned from December 28, 2014; D, E, energy efficiency rating of F or G, the rated power of more than 40 Watt light bulb will be banned from June 28, 2015; and for D, E, energy efficiency rating of F or G. The rated power is greater than or equal to 25 watt light bulb will be banned from December 28, 2015.

The second phase will start in December 28, 2016, when the Ministry of energy will be carried out to assess the implementation of other lighting products energy efficiency standards.
