China's first AMOLED (active matrix organic light emitting display) industrialization project was officially launched in the South China Sea in November 7th in Foshan. The first phase of the project invested 500 million Hong Kong dollars, the construction of a number of AMOLED display production line, plans to produce an annual output of 2 inches full color OLED display.

The two or three phase of the project will gradually increase, the construction of the fifth generation production line, production size AMOLED display screen 26 inches; the future will be the construction of the eighth generation TFT-AMOLED panel production line, AMOLED TV can produce large and medium size.

By then, the operation of the project in Guangdong science and Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the display technology), will become China's low-temperature polysilicon OLED display manufacturing enterprises, the annual sales scale will reach 50 billion yuan.

At present, the domestic OLED suppliers including Kunshan, O Nobutoshi, Sichuan, CIGNA irisopsia, they are mainly engaged in small size OLED production, and products are basically PMOLED (passive matrix organic light emitting display). Only AMOLED is suitable for use in the field of television.

The project is scheduled for commissioning in September next year, the first production of 15 inches OLED display production line put into operation; in another year, the production of 20~30 inches OLED display production line will also be put into production. Their initial target market is still aimed at mobile phones, MP4 and other mobile products.

OLED is considered to be following the LCD (liquid crystal) after the third generation display. According to the survey company DisplaySearch expects 2008 OLED display output will reach $827 million in 2012 will reach $3 billion 100 million, an annual compound growth rate of 96%.
