Current is working with NOKIA to apply smart city technology in Canada

According to foreign media, NOKIA is working with GE's Current to bring sophisticated smart city technology to Canadian cities, help improve operational infrastructure and provide new services for citizens.

According to the terms of the agreement, NOKIA will access Current's CityIQ* platform technology in Canada. The system uses outdoor street lighting for digital infrastructure, collects data through a NOKIA communication network and distributes valuable information to the city. The system is based on the NOKIA intelligent city function, including a complete set of network solutions designed to provide the Internet of things (IoT) connectivity for municipal and utility infrastructure. The combined digital solution is expected to help cities solve common problems such as parking, traffic management, weather and air quality monitoring.
