DOE announced Detroit LED street lamp Assessment Report

China LED Reuters] the U.S. Department of energy (DOE) released a report for the United States in Detroit, the existing high-pressure sodium street lights for LED street lamps to assess the effect. The title of the report is set to "reply to the Detroit street light system". The report provides information on the objective of street lighting installation, including the installation process and decision making and the latest results after installation.

In 2013, Detroit declared bankruptcy, the city's 88000 high-pressure sodium lamp is estimated to be about half of the unbearable use. Due to the loss of the year, in addition to the need to repair and replace most of the street lights, there are more related to the power infrastructure needs to be replaced. The above 88000 branch lights, including roads and residential areas, in recent years, the density of living has been significantly reduced, so if it is necessary to replace the total amount of waste, and finally decided to change only the relevant units of the 65000 LED street lamp.

Report conclusions:

Compared with the high-pressure sodium street lamp, the new LED street lamp to reduce energy consumption by about 4 million 600 thousand kwh of electricity per year (kWh), equivalent to about $2 million 900 thousand under the province.

The energy consumption and maintenance cost of the replacement of the province can only offset the accumulated cost of the LED street lamp, and the energy consumption of the province can be returned to about 2.5 years.

The new LED street light system should also be able to be more durable and to make the surrounding environment more secure, reduce the theft rate.

The lighting effect of the new lighting system is better than that of the traditional lighting system. However, due to the removal of many road lamps, the lighting quality of some residential areas is not so satisfactory.
