Product Maintenance

Do you see the smart lights on the door?

According to the amber network, the potential consumer demand for intelligent bedding equipment is actually very high. The bedside cabinet is the place most of us choose to charge the equipment. Every night, we plug in the charging power of all kinds of equipment and go to sleep. From the point of view of the Internet and the Internet of things, modern people hope that when we get up, the equipment can be automatically opened and the equipment is automatically closed when it leaves. So why can't we integrate the control switches of the intelligent equipment in the room to the side of the bed so that we can control it with the heart?

Luzi Smart Lamp wants to solve this problem, or to solve all the problems. In addition to being able to light a room as a normal lighting device and showing time on a LCD touch screen, Luzi also assembled 4 USB interfaces to recharge multiple phones and tablets at the same time; a Qi and PMA Certified Wireless charger; and a very convenient charging bracket for AppleWatch users. The LED tube inside Luzi can change color. Under full color RGB control, the color of the lamp can be transformed in a warm and cold tone, for example, from warm orange to a more heated and dazzling white light. Luzi's team says that such a light shift can allow users to relax faster and have better sleep quality.

The best of all is that Luzi draws on the functionality of AmazonEcho, with a built-in microphone to be able to listen to user voice instructions and respond to user needs through a built-in Bluetooth speaker. This means that users want to turn down their lights or play their favorite music, and only need to open their mouth. Luzi can also be used in conjunction with third party smart devices, such as Swtichmate, FitBit, and LockitronBolt. So, through Luzi, users can use voice to control the home's mainstream smart home equipment, which is very convenient, for example, only need a command before going to bed to ensure that the home gate is closed well.

So, how much is it for an intelligent bedside lamp? Surprisingly, the price is still very high. The Luzi maker has priced this lamp at $399, but if you take part in the crowd on Indiegogo, you can enjoy a $269 early bird price, which will be officially launched on Tuesday, on Tuesday. But even so, the price of $269 is not cheap - much more expensive than AmazonEcho, much higher than the Aerelight OLED lamp, which also has a built-in wireless charging function.

For Luzi smart lights, we keep a rational view. Luzi gives a lot of performance commitments for home products, including voice control. However, in fact, the function of voice control is a big technical difficulty for most start-ups. Aside from ambition, we have to face the fact that, in so many smart home devices, even the most functional products, there is a lot of success but not the end of delivery. Such examples are not rare, for example, Luzi, one of the partners, Lockitron, is working hard for the completion of the final product.

The little editor has to throw cold water on the Luzi again. The capability to give iPhone wireless charging is suspected of misleading consumers (the function appears in the Luzi's propaganda video). Unlike Samsung's Nexus7 and GalaxyS6Edge, iPhone is not equipped with Qi and PMA compatibility. This means that the data line is needed to recharge the iPhone.

To stand out in a large number of smart home appliances, Luzi has a lot of work to do. Voice control is undoubtedly an important battle line in the smart home market, and giants such as apple, Amazon, Google and Microsoft have also joined the war. That is to say, Luzi's voice function rivals include Siri, Alexa, Cortana and OKGoogle. It's almost impossible to say that for a startup, it's almost impossible to perform in the face of such a strong competitor.

Luzi founders say they are tightening up their own voice control systems, but also admit that they use third party integrated software in development, which includes Google products.

In the strategic layout of Luzi, the performance of partners is very important. If you can combine the Luzi smart lights with the current very popular IFTTT services, it will be very helpful for the product to open up the market. In addition, it is also very important to join the large platform compatibility functions, such as Wink or SmartThings. The Luzi smart lamp has a temperature sensor built in, which may indicate that Luzi might be able to connect with the WorkswithNest project. Of course, all the conjectures must be built on the premise that the Luzi smart lights can really go to the market, but in the more intense marketing, it's an unknown number for Luzi to finish the crowd.

If the public is successful, Luzi is expected to deliver in March 2016. The initial distribution market includes only the United States and Europe, but the Luzi team plans to expand the market further by the end of 2016. The retail price of the Luzi smart lamp is $399 (about 2477 yuan), and the early bird price is $269 (about 1670 yuan) if it participates in the public. We will keep our attention and see if Luzi will eventually kill the siege and let us see the real machine next year.
