Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation (Fairchild Semiconductor) in order to meet the high brightness (high brightness HB) light emitting diode (LED) key market demand, launched a primary side regulation (PSR) pulse width modulation (PWM) controller FAN100 and FSEZ1016A, which can simplify the design and reduce circuit board space, and provide significant performance advantages.

The FSEZ1016A is integrated with a primary side regulation PWM controller and a power MOSFET PSR PWM controller, while the FAN100 is a primary side regulation PWM controller (EZSWITCH). Through this integration, the controller of its proprietary TRUECURRENT technology built in strict and constant pressure (constant voltage, CV), to achieve the most accurate constant current (constant current CC) control, without the need to use a secondary side feedback circuit.
Due to the wide voltage range of unsteady flow is tight, the same circuit can be used for different number of clusters of LED, so as to improve the flexibility of design, shorten the time to market, and prolong the service life of the LED HB. These PSR PWM controller has such a high degree of integration, so you can save the board space, in order to match the shape of the size of the shrinking trend.
FSEZ1016A and FAN100 have proprietary power saving mode, this mode can provide turn off time modulation function, reduce the frequency of PWM under the condition of light load in a linear way. In addition, they can minimize the power consumption by reducing the secondary end of the feedback circuit and components (no load standby power consumption)
