GE lighting to build a ring type LED lamp with a built-in Alexa voice assistant

In 2015, Amazon opened the "Alexa voice service" to third party hardware manufacturers, offering free API, allowing developers to add Alexa voice services to their devices. Recently, GE lighting has shown a circular LED lamp with a built-in Alexa voice assistant.

Although the styling is fashionable and modern, GE lighting does not give it a fancy name, but simply classifies it as a GEC series of LED lights. The LED's function is similar to Amazon's Echo device, with a microphone and a speaker used to listen to the user's voice instructions. The voice command receiving and reply function of the LED lamp will be on line at any time. The user does not need to switch the switch to enable the voice function, and only calls a "Alexa" to call the voice service.

Like Alexa on Amazon's Echo, the Alexa voice assistant of the LED lamp can also provide a wake-up call for users, and can also read news, check weather, tell jokes, and play music. Of course, users can also use Alexa to make voice control over some of the home's Alexa - compatible smart home devices.

GE now shows that the LED lamp is just a prototype, but it is not so much different from the final version of the production. The GE plan will be shipped in the second quarter of 2017.
