Gartner:05 semiconductor sales growth will be higher than expected

May 23rd news, Gartner said, because the computer demand and inventory management is better than expected this year, the global semiconductor sales will be higher than expected.

Gartner analyst Andrew Norwood said at a press conference, the global semiconductor sales will rise 5.9% this year, to $233 billion; 6.5% will rise to $248 billion next year.

Before the Gartner semiconductor sales forecast in 2005 for $228 billion, 2006 sales of $232 billion for semiconductor.

Norwood said in an interview, the global computer memory chip sales will shrink by 0.6% this year, to $26 billion 200 million next year, forecast a decrease of 4.8%, to $24 billion 900 million. Prior to the Gartner forecast this year, computer memory chip sales will grow 2.8% to $27 billion 100 million next year is expected to decrease by $18 billion 500 million to $31.5%. (N102)
