German scientists rewrite LED visible light communication data transmission record

German researchers recently created a new record of visible light transmission of 500 megabits per second.

The German SIEMENS company 15, issued a statement saying, through a special way so that the company and the Heinrich Herz Institute scientists of the light emitting diode (LED) high frequency flicker, photoelectric detector nearby will receive the light signal into electrical pulses, the information transmission speed up to 500 megabits per second.

Prior to visible light communication with a maximum transmission speed of 200 megabits per second, is jointly created by SIEMENS and Heinrich Herz institute.

Compared with the wireless local area network, visible light communication technology can use fluorescent lamps or light-emitting diodes and other indoor lighting equipment to send signals. By using the computer with the function of receiving and sending information and the mobile information terminal, users can download and upload data in the place where the indoor light is irradiated. This technology is safe, as long as the curtains cover the light, the information will not be leaked to the outside, reducing the possibility of data theft.
