Great breakthroughs! LED or the treatment of nerve diseases such as fever

Neuroscience researchers at DELL Moorhouse University in Canada (Dalhousie University) and experts in the brain repair center have discovered a new method that can skip the nervous system and directly stimulate injury or disease and lose the nerve - linked muscles.

When nerve failure LED light succeeds in direct stimulation of the muscle to prevent atrophy

Professor Witt Lafs (Victor Rafuse), director of the brain repair center, and his co research partner and assistant professor Zhang Ying of the same department (transliteration Ying Zhang) said they were successful in stimulating muscles with LED lights that could cause injuries and neurodegenerative diseases. The muscles of atrophy and paralysis reacted.

The DELL Moorhouse surgery resident and the doctoral candidate Philip Magoon (Philippe Magown) and the graduate student Basavaraj Shettar were collaborate with Lafs and Zhang Ying to carry out this major medical breakthrough experiment. Their research was found in the Journal Nature Communications in October 13, 2015.

"We found that as long as we penetrate the skin, we can prevent them from atrophy by exposure to LED lights for 1 hours a day with completely inconnected muscles. Other studies have succeeded in causing light stimulation of the nerve, but we are the first to be able to skip the nerve and directly act on the muscles. This research has made great progress, because it is not possible to operate the muscles by stimulating the nerve, such as the complete failure of the nerve tissue or the disease such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, commonly known as the jelly). "

Recovery of muscle function by LED ray irradiation

To verify the theory that light can directly stimulate muscle activity, the researchers implanted ion channel in mice's genes that reacted to light, which was first found on single cell green algae. This ion channel allows the muscle to shrink when stimulated by LED blue light.

Scientists seek simple methods to implant light reaction ions into the human body

"Our next step is to develop an ion channel that is able to direct the light reaction to the muscle without modifying the gene combination. So we may have a way to find a feasible treatment for human beings. "

For example, raffis suggested that such an ion channel be transmitted to the hand muscles of the hand muscle nerve because of the injury. "We see the possibility of developing a 'LED - ray glove' that can be used to avoid muscle atrophy, and when the patient wants to get something, it can stimulate muscle contraction."

Potential applications can be expected to help patients with neuropathy, such as Alzheimer's disease

The new technology, which is still at the stage of research, has many potential applications, including the diaphragms used to stimulate the disease of the patients with Alzheimer's disease, helping patients suffering from respiratory problems because of neuronal mechanisms and synapses failure, stimulating their respiratory muscles and making muscles maintain.
