India halted CFL solar subsidies turned to LED

According to India's "economic times" reported that the India new energy and renewable energy ministry said in the announcement, has decided to stop based on energy-saving lamps (CFL) solar lighting system provides a central financial subsidy, to provide subsidies for solar lighting system based on LED.

According to the efficient lighting requirements management program (DELP), the government has distributed about 32 million 700 thousand LED bulbs through distribution companies. State owned Enterprise Energy Saving Service Co., Ltd. (EESL) is under the DELP plan to purchase the required distribution of LED bulbs. As of June this year, EESL can be purchased at a price of 73 rupees per LED bulb, compared to each of the rupee in February 2014, a decline of more than 75%.

Recently, the Minister of electricity, coal, new energy and renewable energy Piyush Goyal set a goal: by EESL bid to reduce the purchase price of LED bulbs per 44 rupees. In addition, the government is promoting the use of solar energy through various measures, such as the provision of central financial subsidies for the purchase of solar energy equipment.

India has made international commitments to reduce 30-35% emissions. Capacity building and deployment and deployment of new energy technologies to reduce carbon emissions is one of the mitigation strategies implemented in India.

Experts said that compared to energy-saving lamps, LED has many advantages, such as environmental protection, longer service life. The mercury content in the energy saving lamp makes it difficult to deal with.

In accordance with the DELP plan, the government intends to India market sales of 770 million incandescent light bulbs replaced the LED bulb, so, each year will be reduced to 20 thousand MW of load, save 105 billion kwh, reducing 80 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). If calculated at 4 rupees per kilowatt hour, annual savings of up to $400 billion rupees. (compile / China LED network Nicole)
