Industry suggested that the government of Hongkong will be included in the scope of subsidies LED lamp

Incandescent lamp (Hongkong area also known as the "CFLs") has been left behind in Europe and the United States have already determined that LED is the trend of development after day lighting system. In the Hongkong International Lighting Fair, the first set up LED lighting area has 440 exhibitors, the largest exhibition in the lighting exhibition. For the government 's policy on incandescent light, many exhibitors believe that the government should include the LED lights in the policy scope, otherwise it will lag behind the rest of asia.

Compared to traditional incandescent bulbs, LED more power, the power consumption of three to 40% lower than the incandescent lamp. Chen Changde, managing director, said that although LED can now be used as a general lighting system, but the technology is not yet mature, so the cost is higher. The price of the LED lighting system is nearly 10 times higher than that of the incandescent lamp of the same brightness, with a price of nearly $6.5 on a LED watt bulb of about $400. He estimated that the current LED lighting systems accounted for 13% of the total lighting market in Hong Kong, an increase of more than 2008, but still accounted for nearly 70% of incandescent lamp high. He acknowledged that "compared to the traditional lighting system, LED is still a dust", cheap incandescent lamp is LED's biggest rival, but LED has a lot of room for improvement, as the technology matures, the cost will further decline.

OSRAM Asia Pacific Sales General Manager Lin Zhaoji also said that the LED growth rate is very fast, he refers to OSRAM in the quarter turnover over the same period in 2008, recorded a double-digit growth, LED will be the development trend of lighting system. He said that the earlier European countries in view of the incandescent lamp containing liquid mercury, will cause damage to the environment, is considering prohibiting the use of incandescent lamp, tungsten lamp and the switch to LED, is already the legislative ban. He believes that the government's environmental policy in Europe and the United States lags behind. He welcomed the policy proposal for the incandescent lamp, but questioned why not put more energy conservation and environmental protection LED into the plan.
