Panasonic made its first public appearance at a groundbreaking ceremony in Suzhou, China, in July 14th.

It pointed out that the new plant will be put into operation in April 2006, for the second chip factory of Suzhou Matsushita Semiconductor Co. Ltd, Suzhou Matsushita semiconductor is a subsidiary of Matsushita, currently has 1500 employees, this year is expected to produce 2 billion chips.

Panasonic said that the new plant will make Suzhou Matsushita semiconductor chip production in 2007 increased to 7 billion, the staff will be expanded to 4300 people. In addition, the plant will also assemble 50 million mobile camera modules.
