KYOCERA has developed a sensor assembly composed of integrated LED and light sensors on the same floor. The component is arranged in a straight line or a circular shape, and the sensor can be used for high-precision position measurement or inclination measurement.
The light emitting integrated sensor structure is to form a GaAs layer on the silicon substrate, and then integrate the LED and silicon photodiodes on the substrate. The linear sensor is made up of 10mm, which is composed of 25 groups of light emitting sensors with a distance of 0.4mm. Scan the LED to make it glow, and then use multiple photodiodes to measure the reflected light of the object.
According to the measured signal, not only can analyze the position of the object, but also can be derived from the angle of the sensor and other information. In addition, the company has begun to test the configuration of the photodiode around 8 LED in each component. The component can be used to measure the inclination of a nearby object relative to a component, and can be applied to a novel positioning device, etc.. Because of the wide range of sensitivity of the silicon photodiode, the LED can be customized to cover a wide range of wavelengths ranging from visible to infrared.
