KYOCERA set up an independent new company to enter the OLED Market

Kyocera Corp of Japan (Kyocera) on Display Institute Co.Ltd before the establishment of an independent company, engaged in research and development, manufacturing and sales of OLED activities. The new company has 32 employees, plans to enter the OLED market in 2005, the production of mobile phones, cameras and other consumer electronics OLED display.

Compared with the existing technology, OLED allegedly can make mobile phone display brighter, fast display, and future prices may be cheaper than existing products. OLED has appeared in the mobile phone market, such as passive matrix OLED is also applied to flip the phone outside the small screen. In addition, in digital cameras, manufacturers have begun to use active matrix OLED. ISuppli/Stanford Resources technology and strategic resources director Kimberly Allen pointed out that the quality of consumer sub display requirements are low, suitable as a new OLED test market areas. At present, Japan pioneer, Samsung NEC mobile display company and RiTdisplay provide OLED panel, Fujitsu, LG, Samsung and Motorola are expected to use OLED in the upcoming mobile phone. 2003 global OLED market size of $250 million, of which 78% applied to mobile phones. By 2007, the OLED market is expected to reach $1 billion 700 million.
