LED lamp market share increase, PHILPS will shut Thailand fluorescent lamp factory

Thailand PHILPS electronics company (Philips) CEO Chalinpon said the company will close the fluorescent lamp factory located in Samut Prakan Prefecture in Pu Industrial Zone in the third quarter of this year, the reason is that in the past 3 years the use of LED lamps is increasing, the expected proportion of the next 1-2 years LED lamp will be increased to 50% from 34%, so I decided to the closure of the factory.

He pointed out that the company has a year earlier to inform the factory about 200 employees, and help employees find new jobs. Since PHILPS has been imported from China LED lamp sales in Thailand, so it has not been affected in the operation.

Chalinpon said the continued good growth of the lamp market, is the main cause of the government introduced measures to stimulate the economy, encourage the parties to increase investment, such as infrastructure projects, and promote the lamp market increase, such as lighting, indoor lighting etc.. Forecast in 2016 the annual market value of the lamp will be increased to 25 billion 74 million baht, an increase of up to 3%, mainly from commercial and government agencies, the home market is shrinking, the trend is similar to other countries in the Asia Pacific region.
