LG has developed the world's largest power 70mW UV-C LED.

Seoul, South Korea, February 2017, 23 LG Electric has developed the world's largest power UV-C LED for bactericidal applications, with 1 LED power of up to 70 nanometers (mW) at 280 nm (nm). The bactericidal power is 1.5 times higher than that of the existing 40mW grade LED, and can be used for sterilization of water and air.

UV-C LED is bactericidal at the wavelength of 200~280 at ultraviolet (UV, ultraviolet rays) LED. Destroy the DNA of E. coli, Salmonella and other bacteria, thereby preventing their reproduction.

So far, UV-C LED is mainly used in small sanitary products. This is because its light power is low and its bactericidal power is weak. The LED for toothbrush sterilizer is 1mW, and the LED for humidifier water tank is 2mW.

LG is using the self developed vertical LED chip technology to break through the optical power limitation of the existing UV-C. The power is continuously increased, and the generated heat is effectively discharged, thus ensuring high quality reliability.

The length and width are 6 millimeters (mm), and the thickness is 1.35mm. Although they are even smaller than nails, their bactericidal properties are the most in the world.

It also applies to hardening equipment in manufacturing. Because the UV output is strong, the performance of the curing device can be improved.
