Ledith semiconductor released a public IP core microcontroller

Lattice Semiconductor Corp (Lattice Semiconductor Corp.) released a 8 "soft" microcontroller core LatticeMico8, suitable for field programmable gate array (FPGA) LatticeECP, LatticeEC and LatticeXP series, and leapfrog recently released the programmable logic device MachXO series. The company also provides a new open intellectual property (IP) nuclear license to eliminate restrictions on the use of IP in the design of free reference barriers. This IP kernel license utilizes many concepts of IP core open source code for programmable logic applications.

After optimization of the Ledith structure, LatticeMico8 micro controller consumption in a minimal configuration under the condition of less than 200 resource lookup table (LUT), while maintaining a large number of features, including: 18 Bit instruction, 32 general registers, 32 bytes of internal buffer memory, the "port" to realize the input / output (up to 256 port number), optional 256 byte external cache RAM, each instruction cycle, the two Ledith UART reference design peripherals.

In addition to the core design using Verilog, Ledith also provides a compilation of procedures and an instruction set simulator, are the source code. In order to demonstrate the characteristics and features of LatticeMico8, there is a demo available for download. The design that allows users to achieve a working at the evaluation board within 30 minutes on the lattice.

In order to further enhance the flexibility, the design is parameterized in order to easily achieve the four configurations, respectively, for the needs of different users were optimized:

16 registers, 16 bytes of internal RAM cache, no external cache RAM 32 registers, 16 bytes of internal RAM cache, no external cache RAM 32 registers, 32 bytes of internal RAM cache, no external cache RAM 32 registers, 32 bytes of internal RAM cache, external cache RAM

In addition to the LatticeMico8 microcontroller, Ledith also provides other 8 bit microcontroller solutions through its ispLEVERCore partners Cast Inc and Core Design, including 8051 and PIC.
