Lighting product energy efficiency labeling requirements update

Recently, the European Commission's eco design directive committee on directional lights (home and special directional lights), LED bulbs and related lighting energy efficiency labeling requirements were discussed. After summing up the energy efficiency requirements of the existing lighting products, in order to better evaluate the energy efficiency of the product, a new technical regulation was developed to replace the existing energy efficiency labeling directive 874/2012/EU.

The draft new regulations currently in the discussion stage, is expected to come into force in September 1, 2018, by the end of September 1, 2025 to review and confirm whether it needs to update.

Scope of application of new regulations

Products including general lighting and lighting products;

Luminous flux output 60lm~100klm;

Color rendering index not less than 0;

The new regulations have made a major change in the calculation of energy efficiency levels, no longer need to be calculated according to the complex formula, according to the light effect to determine the energy efficiency level, the preliminary classification is as follows:
