It is reported that, Maxim launched 2 wire interface, 2.7V~5.5V LED display driver, its model is "MAX6955".
MAX6955 is a compact display driver, through the I2C compatible 2 wire serial interface microprocessor interface to the 7, 14 and 16 LED display. Serial interface supports multi chip MAX6955 cascade.
The MAX6955 can drive up to 16 bit, 7 bit, 8 bit, 16 bit, 8 bit, or 128 discrete LED, and the supply voltage can be as low as 2.7V. The device also includes 5 I/O extension lines (or GPIO), some or all of which can be configured as a key switch input, auto scan and shake up to 32 matrix switches.
The device contains all 14 segments and 16 segments of 104 ASCII character font, 7 segment display using 16 hexadecimal font, multi scanning circuit, the anode and cathode driver, as well as for the static RAM memory you display. The maximum segment current of the display bit can be set by a single external resistor. The display brightness can be adjusted independently by the 16 level digital brightness control circuit.
