Miniature module LED serial driver with 40VIN transient protection

(Linear Technology Corporation) technology company launched DC/DC micro module (uModule R) led driver LTM8042 and LTM8042-1, the two devices for composed of up to 8 white LED or 9 red LED LED series. Each device in the input voltage range of 3V to 30V in order to boost and buck or buck boost mode, using 9mm x 15mm x 2.8mm LGA (land grid array) package is a complete LED driver solution. LTM8042 and LTM8042-1 have 0.5% output current voltage regulation accuracy, and can withstand up to 40V of input transient voltage. The LTM8042 provides up to 1A of current while the LTM8042-1 provides up to 350mA. Each device has a true color PWM (True Color PWMTM) dimming, dimming ratio of 3000:1, or with 10:1 analog dimming. These devices are compact, rugged and complete solutions allow LED string driver circuit in the industrial lighting, backlighting displays, scanners, automotive and Avionics lighting applications in the rapid design and manufacturing process.

LTM8042 and LTM8042-1 is a switching regulator with current output voltage LED driver, very accurate adjustment, suitable for driving LED or current source. Inductors, capacitors, regulators, IC and compensation circuits are sealed in a plastic package and protected, so much like a IC. These devices are pin compatible with each other.
