NIMS and SHARP jointly developed the most perfect LED, to achieve 8K broadcast color gamut requirements

Japan's National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS) and Sharp Co announced this month 23, has been successfully developed for 8K ultra high-definition screen so far the most perfect LED program. This design through adjusting the coloration efficiency of green phosphor and effectively improve the reduction degree of red, green and blue screen "colors", and has reached the requirements of 8K broadcast scheme of LCD color gamut, do not lose the ability of the same level.

According to reports, this new screen using NIMS and SHARP joint research and development of "gamma Alon green fluorescent material", which can achieve pure green coloring, so that the screen color can cover 90% of the BT.2020 standard color gamut.

The current method of boosting the large screen gamut is the use of cadmium quantum dots, but not from an environmental point of view, the researchers said. NIMS and Sharp Co's new LED program only needs to replace the white LED components in the backlight, which can enhance the gamut and avoid the cost and security risks caused by the use of harmful elements.

At present, Japan has decided in 2018 to gradually popularize 8K class radio, and in 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, make 8K Ultra HD called mainstream.
