New AC LED products made of luminescent materials

LED lighting is another revolution after incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps. It is recognized as the most promising and efficient lighting industry in the world.

The results of the research and development of the rare earth LED luminescent material with residual glow life and its application in semiconductor lighting have been awarded the first prize of Jilin Technological Invention Award by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry) (hereinafter referred to as the Changchun Institute of Chemical Engineering) and Sichuan Xinli light source Co., Ltd.

"The existing LED lighting source is driven by direct current, and must be converted by AC and DC power when working. The energy consumption is large, the heat dissipation is poor and the cost is high." Li Chengyu, a researcher at the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, told the China Science Journal: "developing new LED lighting products that can directly use alternating current drives is a major demand for the benefit of the people and the development of LED lighting industry."

In view of the worldwide difficult problem of LED being directly driven by alternating current, the Changchun Ying yuan and Sichuan Sony light source Co. Ltd. in 2008 collaborated to develop the new LED technology.

After more than 6 years of unremitting exploration and development, the team has developed a new LED technology based on luminescent materials. According to Li Chengyu, the technology has reached the international leading level, making China the only country in the world that can produce low frequency flash LED products by using luminescent materials. It has strongly promoted the research and industrial development level of China's exchange of LED, especially the rare earth exchange LED luminescent materials.

At present, the project achievements have been successfully transformed in Sichuan Xinli light Limited by Share Ltd and Zhongke optoelectronic (Changchun) Limited by Share Ltd, forming four categories of products: bubble lamp, down lamp, tube lamp and spotlight, and have been successfully applied in the fields of family, subway, shopping malls, hospitals and so on.

Li Chengyu introduced that the technology has the advantages of simple circuit, low cost, good heat dissipation, high energy efficiency and long service life, and can increase the life span by more than 1 times, and the energy consumption and cost are reduced by 15% and 20% respectively. At present, the products have passed the relevant certification in China, as well as the American insurance laboratories, European unification and other certification, and sold to many countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Brazil and so on, and achieved remarkable economic benefits.

It is reported that the project has been selected as "the ten largest technology news of China rare earth in 2013". It was awarded the two nominations of "energy innovation" and "building environment" in 2012 by the British Engineering Technology Society (IET). The 2013 year golden kangaroo World Innovation Award has obtained 4 Chinese invention monopoly authorization and 3 PCT (patent cooperation agreement). The international patent application has entered the actual stage of trial in many countries.
