New LED drive to reduce the size and cost of lighting products

Diodes has introduced a linear 1A constant current LED driver that is designed to reduce the size and cost of general lighting products including flashlights, emergency lighting, garden lighting, and pool applications.

The highly integrated DLD101LED driver uses an optimized small size flat DFN package, which can save a lot of board space for the designer, and the high thermal efficiency of its package ensures a higher power consumption than the SOT23IC.

The DLD101 incorporates a unique "base access pre bias transistor" that incorporates a bias resistor on the chip, setting the LED current through a single external resistor, without the need for an additional boost transistor. In the bypass components, a high drain current 60VN channel MOSFET is used to replace the bipolar transistor, which reduces the overall bias current.

DLD101 not only reduces the PCB area and the number of external components of the LED drive solution, but also completely eliminates the EMI features generated by the switching regulator solution.
