New semiconductor introduced PWM mode WLED driver chip AP3029

Recently, BCD launched a new WLED driver chip AP3029, the chip in the WLED driver design and application of power supply has a larger advantage, it is under the premise of performance guarantee, improve the working frequency, the more highly integrated, reduced the number and size of peripheral devices, reduce the cost of the system.

AP3029 is a PWM (pulse width modulation) mode boost converter integrated with a switch tube and a Schottky diode. It is only by a few external devices - boost inductor, input, output capacitance, feedback resistor to the completion of the driving load of WLED, and the AP3029 has a high frequency (1.2MHZ), it can also reduce the external inductor size, more space saving system. AP3029 has a wider range of input voltage than other similar products, from 2.5V to 16V, the majority of similar products, the maximum input voltage is only 6V, so that the system can be used more widely.

The output current is controlled by an internal reference voltage and an external feedback resistor when the AP3029 is operating normally. AP3029 internal reference voltage is lower, only 200mV, which to some extent, reduces the drive loss, improve the efficiency.

The output voltage of the AP3029 WLED series is determined by the load to be decided, if the output WLED is broken, AP3029 will automatically suppress the output voltage at 27V, overvoltage protection.

The AP3029 has a soft start function. When the system is started, the output voltage becomes very smooth, and the input current is also limited. Through the perfect and reliable protection function, it can greatly improve the security and practicability of the system.
