New technology can improve the luminous efficiency of OLED nearly 3 times

Xinhua news agency, Tokyo (reporter Lan Jianzhong) in February 23, Japanese researchers recently developed a new technology, the organic light emitting diode (OLED) light emitting efficiency is improved by more than two times, this will help the industry accelerate the development of OLED technology. At present, the luminous efficiency of OLED is about 20%. Some experts believe that if the OLED luminous efficiency is improved, and the manufacturing cost is greatly reduced, the future will have the opportunity to OLED TV to replace the LCD TV last year and the rapid rise of the LED (light emitting diode) TV become a mainstream market. The Japanese Nippon Oil Company and Tokyo Institutet of Technology researchers, by changing the surface structure of OLED materials, to achieve the purpose of improving OLED luminous efficiency. OLED is usually made of a thin layer of organic material coating and glass substrate. When the electrode is connected with the voltage, the organic material coating has the current to pass through to emit light. The researchers said that because of the refraction of glass and organic material coating on the light, OLED luminous efficiency is usually not high. The key point of their technology is that the organic material coating and the electrode surface are processed into small folds, thus improving the luminous efficiency of OLED. In the experiment, Tokyo Institutet of Technology professor Take Hideo and others will be made of organic materials and electrode surface of the uneven fold, the results of OLED luminous efficiency can be increased to 2.9 times the original level. The study was published in the 22 issue of the British journal Nature photonics.
