Nichia white LED technology license to Stanley to the automotive lighting market penetration

Nichia chemical company (Nichia) and Stanley ELectric company, signed a licensing agreement before the white LED, Stanley will be authorized to use the white LED chip Nichia and patent. Nichia plans to strengthen its sales of white LED in the automotive lighting market through the agreement, and Stanley is the main supplier in the market.

The agreement makes the Japanese Stanley company to become the second Nichia white LED technology authorized manufacturers. The first is Citizen Electronics, the company signed a licensing agreement with Nichia in 2002.

Stanley is one of the world's leading LED manufacturers, but the company expects Nichia to provide high power white LED will enrich its product portfolio, which can be widely used for a wide range of applications. According to a spokesman for Stanley, Stanley second step will consider the beginning of the authorized production of white LED.

In addition, Nichia has been working with Koito Manufacturing to develop automotive LED headlights. Koito announced in March that it has developed the first car headlights using Nichia's white LED, will be used on TOYOTA Lexus LS600h car above.
