OSRAM and famous lighting designer Ingo Maurer launched OLED lamp

OSRAM Opto Semiconductors and renowned lighting designer Ingo Maurer unveiled a revolutionary lighting application based on OLED in Frankfurt lighting fair. Ingo Maurer is the first one in the desk lamp using the OSRAM OLED.

OSRAM's chief executive, Martin GoetzELer, said OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has created a OLED prototype for the designer's unique creation. We are proud of the fact that OLED is able to inspire a famous artist like Ingo Maurer to create an exciting piece of art. We see the versatility of OLED in design and application.

Ingo Maurer uses OLED to create an area of 132 x to 33 mm product. "'Early Future" represents an important stage in the transition from drawing objects to designer lighting.

OLED has all the advantages of LED such as high energy saving, low operating voltage and mercury free design, but also has some of its own outstanding characteristics. The light source is not a collection but a uniform luminous plane.

Dr. Bernhard Stapp, director of solid-state lighting at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, said about 50 research engineers are working on the development of OLED to turn science fiction into reality. In the future it will be possible to use OLED as a deformable or transparent light source. Transparent OLED during the day in the ceiling of the window to allow natural light to come in, at night can display the charming lighting.
