The Oakland Transportation Bureau began the first New Zealand LED luminaire replacement plan. The relevant authorities will replace up to 44000 high pressure sodium lamps (golden yellow light) and install relatively energy-efficient LED lamps. The Oakland transportation bureau manages more than 100 thousand branches of lights, accounting for about 1/3 of the country's lighting. The first phase of the plan is 5 years, said Dr. Lester Livy (Lester Levy), the director of transportation in Oakland. "That is to say about half of the street lights in Oakland will be replaced from gold to white."

Last year, the Oakland Transportation Bureau passed the plan, and the rest of the other half of the LED street light was replaced about 4 to 5 years. "In the 20 year life of the LED lamps, the plan is expected to save 32 million New Zealand yuan (RMB 131 million yuan)," Dr. Livy said.

The Minister of transport and energy and Resources Minister Simon Bridges (Simon Bridges) announced a policy change in March, which would enable local authorities to speed up funding for the replacement of LED street lights.

The Oakland Transportation Bureau has just received the four - year contract for the maintenance and renewal of four street lights, which is expected to start this month. The region is divided into 4 different contractual areas: Electrix Ltd obtains contracts in the north and the west, and Downer ITS wins the central and southern contracts. The Oakland Transportation Bureau has been planning since 2012. The new lighting requirements for all pedestrians use LED lamps and lanterns. Replacing old lamps with LED lamps will reduce energy consumption by more than 60%. The Oakland Transportation Bureau is currently using about 2000 energy saving LED lamps. The first wave replacement project will immediately replace 1000 lights at Albert and Mon Los Ki (Mount Roskill). At the same time, the communication management system (Tele-management System, TMS) will install a monitoring network for monitoring the LED street light. By close observation of the lighting level, the energy consumption of 15% to 20% can be saved. This communication management system will provide enhanced customer service, allowing all errors on the system to be mistaken on the same day.

The Oakland Transportation Bureau has installed LED lights near Eden Park and also monitored by a communication management system. This measure includes a previous plan, and it operates well before and after the festival.
