According to LIGHTimes On-Line reported that Holland PHILPS lighting is intended for Russia's greenhouse agricultural cultivation company LLC Agro-Invest LED grow light, used for greenhouse cultivation of tomato and cucumber in greenhouse, an area of about 25 hectares (approximately equivalent to 40 football fields).

PHILPS lighting says the project is the largest plant lighting program they have ever undertaken. The lights provided can help plants grow and increase production throughout the year, especially in the winter. Their LED plant lights save about 50% of their energy costs compared to conventional high-pressure sodium lamps.

PHILPS lighting will provide Agro-Invest with 65000 1.25 meter long PHILPS Green Power (green energy) dome lights, and 57000 2.5 meter long PHILPS Green Power Interlight. In addition, PHILPS will also provide lighting programs and training services to the maximum extent to meet the growth needs of cucumber and tomato. In the end to end a plant growth lamp installation, can be extended to 223 km in length.

The PHILPS plant light provides a suitable light for plants, especially when plants need light most. Compared with traditional lighting, the light produced by the lamp is greatly reduced, which makes the installation of the lamp relatively close to the plant." She added: "thanks to this technology, we have increased the output of agricultural products in the dark years of the year and greatly saved the resources."".

PHILPS plant lighting department business manager UdovanSlooten LED said: "this is the world's largest plant lighting project, compared with the traditional plant lighting, light plant required power consumption will be decreased by more than 50%, at the same time, it will use the lighting scheme we designed to increase production, during the darkest hours of winter, agricultural products the output will increase by more than 30%". He added: "our plant lights are the best complement to natural light during the day. Plants can be fully grown for a whole year.". This project highlights the international development trend of plant lighting, that is, to achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural products instead of imports, reduce food mileage, and guarantee freshness".
