PIDA: Taiwan LED chip grain output last year decline of 2% Lei

Yesterday (29), Taiwan Optoelectronics Association (PIDA) pointed out that the Taiwan area LED Lei grain output in 2017 2% chip recession, reached 33 billion 800 million dollars, but the industry overall profit significantly improved.

PIDA said the global LED element of industrial ecological upheaval in Taiwan area in 2017 LED element manufacturers adjust product mix, reduce or withdraw from the proportion of backlight and lighting applications of fierce competition, such as an increase of four yuan, the vehicle is not visible light, Mini LED and other niche products. Even a few manufacturers will MOCVD epitaxial technology further extends to the top of VCSEL and GaN HEMT components.

According to the statistics of PIDA, LED chip grain output in 2017 Lei Taiwan area in the transitional stage of decline in 2%, reached 33 billion 800 million dollars, but the industry overall profit significantly improved. The top ten LED epitaxial chip, grain revenue, total losses from 2016 to 2017 earnings of NT $5 billion 940 million and NT $1 billion 820 million.

In addition, in 2017 in Taiwan, LED package module output value of NT $78 billion 400 million, 6% decline. LED package, module of the top ten vendor revenue, total earnings from NT $650 million to a loss of 130 million dollars.

On the other hand, PIDA also pointed out that with the mainland in the "2025" is the highest China manufacturing industry guidance policy, the use of national resources invested in R & D and manufacturing LED components, domestic import substitution effect, coupled with the LED terminal products should be the ratio of expansion, makes mainland LED element to champion in the world.

PIDA stressed that the LED industry in Taiwan area should be the focus of future development in niche applications product focus, cross domain, cross industry cooperation, establish cooperation platform, improve the efficiency of product development, accelerate the middle and lower reaches of the sea should be smooth development priorities.
