LED is rapidly becoming a popular street lighting technology for replacing traditional lighting technologies such as high pressure sodium (HPS) lamps. LED a useful light per lumen the consumption of electricity is quite small, if the driver is using high efficiency resonant power supply, per watt power can be issued up to 80 lumens of light, by contrast, the HPS lamp emits only 58 lumens of light. In addition, LED also has better directional control and color quality than HPS lamps, which is an important consideration in commercial and residential areas. LED also can be opened and closed quickly, and keep the lights dim when the efficiency of the same function is suitable for the automatic detection of light environment and human activities, the implementation of cost optimization of light output, while the adverse effects on the community lighting solution to a minimum. Since the LED itself has a higher reliability than the HPS lamp, maintenance costs and the resulting overall cost of ownership will also be significantly reduced.
HiperPLC is the first high power Power Integrations product, used to control the power range between 80 to 600 watts AC-DC converter. HiperPLC reduces the cost of the system by reducing the size of the desired PFC core and integrating the PFC and LLC controllers into a single IC. The highest power factor of IC can be up to 0.99, and the PFC and LLC controller can be processed synchronously. The synchronous function can reduce the ripple current in the large capacity capacitor, thereby reducing the working temperature of the capacitor and prolonging the service life of the power supply. Power Integrations PI Expert software (7.1.4 version) now supports the use of HiperPLC for power supply design, the software is based on the PI product automation power supply design software.
